Plantain Chips
When you're craving for chips, either for salsa, guacamole, or nachos. Reach for these yummy plantain chips. Plantains are full of fiber, vitamin A, C, & B6, as well as the minerals magnesium & potassium.
Serves 4
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 35 minutes
Ingredients
2 lbs plantains, scored, peeled, and thinly sliced 1/4"
1/4 cup Olive oil, or avocado oil
Sea salt or Pink Himalayan salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350, 2 rimmed baking sheets (lined with parchment, optional).
2. In a medium bowl, toss the plantains in oil. Season with salt & pepper.
3. Arrange the plantains in a single layer on the sheets. Bake for 30-35 minutes, flipping 1/2 way through. Bake until golden & crisp. Drain on paper towels and enjoy with your favorite toppings.
Make it your own
Try and choose green plantains for this recipe.
1. Wash the plantains
2. Use a pairing knife to cut off the stem & tip
3. Slice into the skin of the plantain lengthwise at the ridges (be careful not to cut too deep)
4. Remove strips of skin with the knife, similar to peeling a carrot
5. Slice off any remaining peel attached to the pulp
6.Your plantain is now ready to slice, dice, or chop
